2) CULTURAL SPOT

THE STORY OF HOLLOWEEN

Halloween is a feast from Celtic culture that takes place primarily in the United States on the night of October 31. Children are disguised for the occasion and walk through the streets demanding candy door to door. After calling at the door children uttered the phrase "Trick or Treat" or "Sweet or trick" (from the phrase "trick or treat"). If adults give them candy, money or any other type of reward, is interpreted to have accepted the deal. If on the other hand they refuse, the boys will spend a little joke, the most common throw eggs or shaving foam against the door.

The word Halloween is a derivation of the phrase All Hallow's Eve (Eve Day Saints). It was held in Anglo-Saxon countries, mainly in Canada, the United States, Ireland and the United Kingdom. But now celebrated in almost all Western countries with a greater or lesser presence.

Pumpkin:

While not conceived a festival of Halloween without this vegetable, pumpkin is not a symbol of the primitive own Halloween or Samhain celebrating Celtic peoples of Europe

Trick or Treat:

Children and those not so masquerade, while competing among themselves to see what is the most horrible of all disguise, and go from house to house giving the famous ultimatum "trick or treat" (trick or treatment) . Meet the origin and significance of this famous speech, certainly the favorite of children on the night of Halloween.

Sweets (sweets):

Another custom deeply rooted in Halloween is to seek and eat sweets. Apparently tradition began in Europe in the ninth century when every November 2 (All Souls Day, Day of All Souls), Iban Christians from town to town asking for "soul cakes" (soul cakes), which were pieces sweet bread. The more "soul cakes" were more promising pray for the peace of the dead relatives of those who gave them such alms. Over time, this custom was fused with the feast of Halloween into another typical feature of the celebration.

Thanksgiving Day Tradition

Thanksgiving Day is a communal celebration marked as a sense of gratitude people feel for all the good things in life. This is done by offering prayers, gifting your near and dear ones. The fourth Thursday in the month of November is marked for the yearly celebration. The tradition of Thanksgiving continues till date in the form of

Family Reunion and Feasting
Family feast is an important tradition during Thanksgiving. The entire family sits at the table during dinner and offer prayer to the Lord Almighty for his continuous grace. It is also a time for relatives living in different places to come together and celebrate.

Tradition of Turkey
The traditional stuffed turkey adorns every dinner table during the feast. Pumpkin pie, Cranberry sauce, Corns are some of the dishes cooked everywhere to mark the day. Though historians don't have an evidence to prove that turkey was eaten during the first Thanksgiving dinner, but the thanksgiving celebration will be incomplete without it.

Parades
The traditional Thanksgiving parade probably started with President Lincoln proclaiming it an official day. The full- dress parade is a way to display the country's military strength and discipline. The main aim of such parades is to lift the spirits of the spectators, provide them with wholesome entertainment. In the present day, parades are accompanied with musical shows and celebrities.

Football Games
Watching NFL football during Thanksgiving is a popular tradition. The traditional game between the Detroit Lions and the Green Bay Packers continues. One of the most memorable games having been played on this day.
